Description
Our passion for children does not stop when the school day ends, but extends into the nontraditional learning environment. Our purpose is to aid students in the application of skills learned during the traditional educational day and to transfer and reinforce that knowledge using instructional strategies, hands-on learning experiences and digital learning tools. Through a collaborative partnership Caliday, School Day educators and Community Leaders extend children’s learning experience outside of the “typical school day hours!” Learning changes a child’s life offering opportunity, imagination and a dream.
This position requires entry level knowledge and understanding of behavioral and developmental stages of children; beginning knowledge of OCC licensing regulations; ability to assist in the management of a classroom including strong organizational, communication (verbal and written) and problem solving skills; patience, flexibility. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Regularly communicates with the School Age Teacher, Assistant Director and Program Director to gain feedback on performance and skills.
Pursues continuous learning and self development.
Supports the accountability culture and maintains it by peer leadership
Reaches out to peers, leaders and other role models for direction on higher education.
Attends all team meetings, trainings and events as requested; limits unscheduled absences.
Communicates effectively with parents, e.g., greeting by name, addressing concerns in a timely manner, giving positive feedback, and providing regular updates on their child’s development and classroom happenings.
Provides a welcoming and friendly classroom environment for all children, parents, visitors and the school community.

Assists in maintaining brand right and current classroom displays
Ensures that appearance and cleanliness of the classroom is appropriately maintained.

OPERATIONS
Assists in managing classroom ensuring compliance with all OCC regulations, company standards, policies and procedures.
Assists in creating and implementing thorough, timely lesson plans that are age appropriate and stimulating in accordance with weekly themes and Caliday curriculum.
Maintains confidentiality regarding families, co-workers and self.
Assists and supervises children during all activities; counsels children as needed using positive and appropriate discipline techniques.
Assists in completing all classroom paperwork, e.g., Daily Reports, accident reports, attendance records.
Identifies opportunities and/or problems in the classroom and works with the School Age Teacher, Assistant Director and Program Director to resolve.
Maintains certification requirements per licensing, credentialing and accreditation.
Qualifications
Physical Demands:
The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. The job requires frequent bending, stooping, squatting, and reaching, lifting and carrying; ability to lift 50 pounds.
Education/Experience:
Experience in child care industry preferred.
Required to be enrolled in a recognized high school child development/career-tech child development program OR has completed 3 clock hr orientation training.
Specific Skills:
Certification in CPR and First Aid
ADA Certification
Basic Health and Safety Training
