Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and organized Program Coordinator to manage our summer camp operations and drive growth by identifying new school-age programs throughout the year. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and a strategic mindset for program development. This position will play a key role in both our summer camp success and in expanding our offerings to school-aged children during the academic year.
Key Responsibilities:
Summer Camp Management:
- Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of our summer camp program, ensuring a safe, fun, and educational environment for all participants.
- Develop and implement engaging activities, field trips, and special events that align with camp objectives.
- Lead the recruitment, training, and supervision of camp staff and volunteers, ensuring high-quality programming and adherence to safety protocols.
- Manage camp enrollment and registration, maintain clear communication with parents and guardians, and address any concerns or issues in a timely manner.
- Monitor camp budget and expenses, ensuring resources are used efficiently and programs are cost-effective.
- Foster a positive and inclusive camp environment that reflects our organization's mission and values.
School-Age Program Development:
- Research and identify new opportunities for school-age programs during the academic year, with a focus on community needs and partnership possibilities.
- Develop proposals and bid on relevant school-age programs, after-school programs, or other youth-oriented initiatives that align with our organization’s strengths and goals.
- Collaborate with schools, community organizations, and local agencies to establish and grow relationships that can lead to successful program bids.
- Stay informed about trends in education and child development to ensure our programs remain relevant and effective.
- Develop and manage annual programming schedules, ensuring a seamless transition between summer and school-year offerings.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in education, Recreation, Child Development, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in camp management, youth programming, or a related role. Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and foster positive relationships.
- Ability to work independently and think creatively to identify new program opportunities.
Additional Information: This is a full-time position with increased workload during the summer months due to camp operations. The position requires some local travel to identify potential program partners and opportunities.
CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) is preferred.
