MRDC Lead Teachers provide developmentally appropriate classroom activities and instruction to Head Start students and support Head Start families in compliance with the Head Start Performance Standards and MRDC policies and procedures.
Typical Duties:
- Plan and provide learning opportunities that support student growth in the areas of cognition, early literacy and language, social development, play skills, fine and gross motor development, fine arts, adaptive/self-care skills, health, and nutrition.
- Refer children suspected of having special needs or challenging behavior to appropriate staff.
- Implement behavior plans and IEPs designed with the team, families, schools, and mental health professionals, putting an emphasis on creating the least restrictive environment possible.
- Conduct developmental assessments three times a year and record all results in GOLD.
- Conduct direct observations on children and record data daily in GOLD and/or in the child’s portfolio and file.
- Implement the developmentally appropriate curriculum for preschool children per guidance from the Education Coordinator, the ECE Specialist, and other leaders, individualizing instruction as necessary.
- The Head Start teacher must have, at a minimum, an Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development.
- At least one year of early childhood classroom teaching experience preferred.
- Must pass criminal background check in MD and surrounding states.
Salary is based on Education and Experience: $26.54 - $29.68 per hour
