MRDC Teacher Assistants assist Lead Teachers in providing developmentally appropriate classroom activities and instruction to Head Start students and supporting Head Start families in compliance with the Head Start Performance Standards and MRDC policies and procedures.
Typical Duties:
- Help plan and provide learning opportunities that support student growth in the areas of cognition, early literacy and language, social development, play skills, fine and gross motor development, fine arts, adaptive/self-care skills, health, and nutrition.
- Assist teacher in implementing behavior plans and IEPs.
- Assist teacher in conducting developmental assessments three times a year and recording all results in GOLD.
- Assist teacher in conducting direct observations on children and record data daily in GOLD and/or in the child’s portfolio and file.
- Assist teacher in implementing the developmentally appropriate curriculum for preschool children per guidance from the Education Coordinator, the ECE Specialist, and other leaders, individualizing instruction as necessary.
- The Head Start Teacher Assistant must have, at a minimum, a high school diploma or GED; Associate's degree preferred
- Must, at a minimum: possess a valid child development associate (CDA) credential OR be enrolled in a program leading to an associate or baccalaureate degree in early childhood education or child development OR be enrolled in a CDA program to be completed within 2 years.
- At least one year of early childhood work experience preferred.
- Must pass criminal background check.
Salary based on Education and Experience: $18.71-19.71
